He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Carole Drake; three sons, Virgil R. Drake, Jr. and wife Debi Drake, Jefferson Lee Drake, and Brett Bish Drake; his mother, Evie Winn; one sister, Barbara Buxton and husband, Larry Buxton; two brothers, Clarence “Buck” Drake and wife Alice Drake, Roger Rivet and wife Mary Rivet; grandchildren are Dustin Drake, Gerard Drake, Therese Drake; along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Virgil Ray is preceded in death by his father, Lealon Drake.
Services will be held at Hixson Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 1:00pm with Bro. Jerry Hext officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 11:00am until the time of the service at Hixson Snider Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hyatt Cemetery.
