Oscar “Alex” Carlson, 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. He was born on May 14, 1944 to Oscar and Mary Helen Carlson in DeQuincy, LA who preceded him in death. He was a proud member of the DeQuincy Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and the American Legion. He loved duck hunting, watching baseball and the rodeo, playing the guitar, writing songs, singing, and most of all took pride in his own Insurance Business, “Southern Casualty,” which he owned and operated since 1982 until the present day.
He is survived by his four sons, Oscar “Matt” Carlson of DeQuincy, Brady Alan Carlson and wife Kacie of Deridder, Keith Aaron Carlson and wife Shawna of Sulphur, Kyle Edwin Carlson and wife Kristie of DeQuincy; brother, Harrell Wright Carlson and wife Patricia of New Braunsfels, TX.; sister Alma Bieber and husband Lamar of Branch, LA.; along with grandchildren, Shelby, Cameron, Conner, Kolt, Luke, and Jack.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 30, 2017 at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy with Harry Methvin officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 4:00-8:00pm at Hixson Snider Funeral Home and will resume on Monday from 9:00am until the time of the service at the church.
