Mary Agnes Yellott, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023 at the age of 92. Surrounded by her loving family, Mary left behind a legacy of unconditional love, compassion, and an unwavering joy for life. She was a former owner/operator of Yellott Ford for 25 years and also Bayou Video for a number of years. Mary was a gardener, loved to fish with her husband, and was a member of the Study Club, Garden Club, American Business Women's Association, and enjoyed spending time at her camp on the river. She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of LaSalette in DeQuincy.
She was born to her late parents, Paul Nathan Johnson and Agnes Roy Johnson on November 13, 1930 in DeQuincy. Mary's memory will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who were touched by her love and kindness. Throughout her life, Mary’s warm and welcoming nature drew people to her. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel valued and loved and found joy in the relationships of her family and friends. Mary had a deep love for children and always found a way to keep them engaged and happy while they were around her.
Survived by the Jerry Yellott Jr family with wife Sherry, her grandchildren Jerry Yellott III and wife Rebecca, Sean Soileau and wife Sharon, Shannon Soileau, Elizabeth Konheim and husband Jeremy, and Erick Yellott, and their 9 great grandchildren, and extended family Glenda Fox and husband, Charles. Also the Kirk Yellott family with wife Suzanne, her grandchildren Peyton Yellott and fiance' Brittany, Hunter Purkey, Mackey Purkey, Stacie Hodges Blevins, Micah Goss, and Dacota Blevins.
Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry Yellott, Sr, brothers and sisters, Lucille Smith, Paul Henry Johnson, Lilla Vincent, Mattie Grey Coward, Lucien Johnson, Charles Nathan Johnson, Freddie Johnson, Carly Johnson, Lettie Burnitt, Katherine Theriot; along with her grandson Dallas Yellott and granddaughter Jessie Purkey.
A Rosary will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, Louisiana on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 12:30 pm, with Trooper LeBlanc leading. Visitation at the funeral home will follow at 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Mary's life will follow at 3:00 pm at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, with Bro. Alvin Dale Smith officiating. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy, Louisiana.
