Juanita Faye (Keel) Marcantel, 78, of DeQuincy, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021, at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. She was born to her late parents, Ross and Gladys Keel on July 11, 1943 in DeQuincy. She was a school bus driver with Calcasieu Parish Schools for 26 years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping and fishing, shopping, Christmas time, and loved having family get togethers. Juanita took pride in serving others, and would help in any way that she could.
She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Yocham (William Pierce) of Merryville; one brother, Howard A. Keel (Jeannie Ray) of DeQuincy; one sister, Linda Shoemake (Ernest "Red") of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Kalup, Mayci, Jethro, Ali; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Wayne Marcantel; along with her sisters, Genieve Salters, Emma Ruth Stevens, Delores Ann Shoemake, and Martha Sue Welch.
Services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 10:00am, with Bro. Roland Hebert officiating. Visitation will be at New Hope Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. Visitation will resume at the church on Thursday, from 8:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery.
