Alma Ruth (Dunham) Smith, 89, of DeQuincy went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at her residence. She was born on September 22, 1933 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to her late parents, Ben and Eula Rae Dunham.
She was a member of the DHS Class of 1952. Alma married Noah Smith, Jr. on July 2, 1950. She taught for many years in DeQuincy where she was a school teacher and Librarian. She loved her students, and took great pride in giving them the best education possible. Alma was able to keep in touch with her students for many years through social media.
Alma was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in DeQuincy for many years. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, whom she loved very much.
She is survived by her son, William Dalton Smith of DeQuincy, Louisiana; and grandson, Matthew Dunham Myres and his fiancée' Jennifer Suchon of Buda, Texas.
Alma is preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Noah Smith, Jr.; her parents; one daughter, Teresa Jo Myres; and her three sisters, Patsy, Joy, and Bonnie.
A Celebration of Alma's life will be held at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy, Louisiana on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:00 am. Bro. Gil Arthur and Bro. David Earnest will officiate. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday, from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery.
