Zora was born on April 07, 1958 in Zrenjanin, Serbia to father Djuro Borenovic and mother Vera Borenovic, whom both predeceased her. She grew up in a small, loving family with one brother, Zoran Borenovic, in Novi Travnik, Bosnia. Zora married Ljubisa Petkovic on June 14, 1986. The family was forced to leave their home town behind in 1992 and move to Serbia due to the religious war which tore the country apart. In 1998, with the help of Unicef, they relocated to Denver, CO.
Zora loved flowers and always had a beautiful garden. She was a great cook and her family always had a homemade meal prepared for them. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing and it was her main hobby. When diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in April 2015, she remained dedicated in taking care of her family and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Zora is survived by her husband and children, as well as her brother, Zoran. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Zora requested to be buried at the Olinger Hampden Cemetary. A reception at Olinger will follow; all are welcome. The family would especially like to thank close friends who often visited and helped brighten Zora’s final days; and the Olinger Funeral Home, for making the arrangements.
