Tom was born to Bill and Sally Dickman in Morton Grove, IL on September 24, 1953, spent most of his childhood in this Chicago suburb, and eventually settled in Colorado in 1978. He held numerous professions over the years, and his favorite – automotive mechanic – started with an appreciation for cars that lasted long after he left his Franktown (CO) service station in 1980. When Tom was not working on cars or talking about rebuilding his dream metallic blue 1967 Camaro Z28, he was talking about fishing. He tirelessly cast into reservoirs, lakes and streams, from Colorado to Canada, enjoying every minute of it – especially the legendary stories of ‘Big Mo’ in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
He also enjoyed people. Tom’s charismatic personality and effortless sense of humor earned him many decades-long friendships with childhood classmates, co-workers, neighbors and family. Those closest to Tom describe him as “big hearted” and “always ready for an adventure; you never knew what he’d come up with”. He shared his passion for conversation, games, sports, and the outdoors with anyone willing to join-in and never failed to bring a few laughs along.
Tom was loved as a son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend; he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his mother Sally, son Josh, daughter-in-law Miya, seven siblings and their spouses, three grandchildren, dozens of nieces/nephews and beloved Lhasa Apso Brows. He was preceded in death by his father Bill and brother-in-law Mike.
Although his time on Earth seemed short, his faith ensured an eternal life in Heaven.
Tom will be cremated and a service will be held in his honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to Samaritan's Purse or a charity of their own choice.
