Ramona Lee Smith, 88, of Denver, Colorado passed away on July 25, 2018. She was born on December 16, 1929 in Ness City, Kansas to Dorothy Matkins and Theodore Funk. In 1965, she married Howard Joseph Smith and they had 2 children. She adored spending time with her family as she was blessed with not only children, but also four grandchildren and a great grandchild. She also had a special place in her heart for her career. She was the only woman to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University in 1955. She settled into a career in the mortgage industry where she helped hundreds of families, many of whom became lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Smith; her brother, Jerry Funk; and her sister-in-law, Lois Funk.
She is survived by her two children, Robert "Bob" Wickwar and Shawn Smith (Tracy Smith); her younger brother, Robert Funk (Marlene Funk); her 5 grandchildren, Ramona Wickwar (David Moona), Valerie Svoboda (Aaron Svoboda), Michael Wickwar (Jennifer Hartwick), Ebonie Santos, and Jordan Smith, along with her great-granddaughter, Ivy Moona. She will be deeply missed by many other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018. The viewing will begin at 10:30 A.M. and the funeral service at 11:30 P.M. at Washington Park United Methodist Church (1955 East Arizona Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80210). Her family also invites you to join them at 1:00 P.M. to witness her being laid to rest. Her final resting place will be at Olinger Hampden Cemetery (8600 East Hampden Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80231).
