May 28, 1935 – October 1, 2022
Melvin Leon Coffman passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the age of 87 in Littleton, Colorado. He was born on May 28, 1935 to Charles Clarence and Ada Belle Coffman.
Melvin graduated from Gilmore High School in Sandyville, West Virginia. He joined the Air Force and landed in Denver, Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Beverly Ann Coffman, whom he was married to for 60 years and devoted to for the rest of his life. He had a long career of 40 years at Martin Marietta (Lockheed). He was a well-respected man of faith and strength, and a steadfast father to three children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The love and admiration between him and his grandchildren was uniquely special; he was always there to share support, compassion, and a good joke. He took great joy in spending time with his family and reading the Bible; and he shone brightly with his natural ability to make friends everywhere he went.
Melvin is survived by his three children, Mark (Lisa) Coffman, Michelle Coffman, and Scott (Leigh) Coffman; his brothers, Clifford (Peggy) Coffman, and Darrell (Sandra) Coffman; and sister, Betty Mankins. He is also survived by his six grandchildren; Christina Coffman, Audrey (Hunter) Weese, Julian Metsala, Lauren Coffman, Isabella Coffman and Samantha Coffman; and three great-grandchildren, Raven Coffman, Francesca Weese and Blake Weese. May we take comfort knowing he has reunited eternally with his darling Beverly; they will both be remembered and loved in our hearts forever.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 8 at 10:00am at Olinger Hampden Memorial Gardens in Denver, where he will be laid to rest the same day.
