She was born on May 9, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri and her parents were Dr. James L. and Alie Mae (Hughes) Hall. On April 22, 1954 she was united in marriage to Francis D. (Don) Cunningham in Chicago, Ill.
Prior to marriage, Mary attended Barnes Business College in Chicago, Ill. She was a special needs school bus driver for 15 years in the Cherry Creek School District. Mary was an avid collector and lover of stuffed bears. Her collection exceeded thousands over the years with many donated to new homes.
She also owned and operated Pride and Joy Handcrafts for 20 years. Mary was working, along with her daughter, Debra on her certification for advanced sewing and dressmaking. Debra will continue to obtain that certification in her Mother’s memory.
Mary is survived by her best friend and beloved husband of 57 years, Don; her daughter Debra Sorg of Parker, CO; her son David of Aurora, CO; daughter in-law, Jan of Longmont, CO; sister/brothers-in-law, Louise Hall of Chicago, IL; Hassie (Leon) Boddy of Oxford, NC. She is survived by granddaughters Kathy (Tom) Pace of San Antonio, TX, and Amy Sorg of Lexington, KY. She will be remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be deeply missed by many friends and associates.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Alan W. Cunningham, her life long friend Jackie Ross, parents, brother, James Hall, and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, Stonegate Bldg., 15787 Haseley Dr., Parker, Colorado from 10am to 3pm.
