Margaret Luella Ross, 89, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2019. Margaret was born on July 23, 1929 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Rolland Clark Snyder and Helen Lucille Ford Snyder. Upon graduation from Ann Arbor High School, Margaret married Robert Witherell Ross on December 13, 1947. After college in Indiana, the family returned to Ann Arbor.
Margaret was a stay at home mom to their young children. Any spare time was spent crocheting and needlepointing. Margaret would often listen to the music of the 1960s while caring for the children and the home. She enjoyed attending the children’s sporting events and was known as a loud and raucous fan.
As the children grew, Margaret worked at various retail establishments. Eventually the family purchased a Dairy Queen franchise in Ann Arbor and Margaret operated the Dairy Queen for 20 years. After Bob retired they sold the Dairy Queen and moved to Colorado in 1992.
A life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in retirement Margaret enjoyed working as an ordinance worker in the Denver Colorado Temple for 15 years and volunteering for many years at the Bishop’s Storehouse. She eventually fulfilled a lifelong dream by serving as a Family History Indexing Missionary. Her Mission began in March, 2008 when she was 78 years old. Eight and a half years later, at the age of 86 when she needed to spend more time caring for her husband, she was released from her mission in October, 2015. She continued working on her genealogy until shortly before her death.
Margaret is survived by her sons Roger (Claudia), Roy (Betty), Richard (Karen), her daughter Lorraine, 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Bob (January 22, 2019), her son, Ron (2005) and her great- grandson, Connor (2007). Margaret was laid to rest at Olinger Hampden Memorial Garden on Saturday, March 16, 2019. A memorial service will be held in June. Please check back later for more information.
