Luis Leyba

Luis Leyba passed away July 6, 2023 at 85 years. He was born in New Mexico, son of Juan and Victoria. He grew up on a ranch with his younger brothers and sisters. In his younger days, Luis was a real cowboy: breaking and training horses, cattle herding, and sheep herding in New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Then Luis met Sara in Denver, married, had a daughter Gina.

His favorite hobby was fishing and there were numerous fishing and camping road trips in Colorado and surrounding states. Luis and Sara eventually moved to the Denver area after retirement and enjoyed many years with the family. They were married for 59 years. He was a strong Christian and was a source of prayer in his churches, the Children’s Hospital and various retirement communities.

A visitation for Luis will be held Monday, July 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231. A reception will occur Monday, July 17, 2023 at 12:00 PM, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231.
