A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Kyong Kim, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Sin Kim; son and his wife, Jim & Megan Kim; daughter & her husband, Susan and Chuck Woodruff; and daughter & her husband, Ann and Pat Reidy. She was a grandmother to 5 grandchildren, Elaine Kim, Tanner Reidy, Keaton Reidy, Jamie Kim and Tyler Kim. She is also survived by her sister, Song Fox, and brothers Austin, Steve and Michael Yu.
She dedicated her life to her family and her Christian faith. She was married to her beloved husband for over 60 years. She and her husband moved to the United States in order to provide a greater opportunity for their three children. She was the matriarch of the family and was always willing to give of her time to help others. She was also known as the family comedian…always witty and making everyone laugh and creating a fun and happy environment.
She served as an active member and elder of the Hope Presbyterian Church in Denver. Her strong Christian faith was displayed daily as she attended pre-dawn prayer services and frequently volunteered her time and opened her home and provided meals to her church families. Her passion for praying for family and others was truly healing for those that received her prayers. Her involvement with the Christian community and willingness to sacrifice and giving back to her family and community was unwavering.
She was well known in the community for her daily morning walks where she would frequently greet and chat with her neighbors and friends. In addition, she enjoyed her weekly hikes to the mountains with her friends.
A funeral service for Kyong will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Korean Hope Presbyterian Church, 1345 S. Dayton St., Denver, CO 80247. A visitation will occur Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 1345 S. Dayton St., Denver, CO 80247.
A private graveside service will occur Monday, September 19, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231.
