Kenneth "Ken" Elvin Hendrick, 91, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Stone Creek of Littleton in Littleton, Colorado. He was born on July 14, 1932, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Elvin and Mildred (Dolby) Hendrick.
Kenneth served his country with honor, joining the United States Navy and serving during the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, he trained as an airline mechanic and spent his career with Frontier Airlines and Continental Airlines. In addition, he spent many years working as a mechanic on the University Church of Christ's Joy Buses, and helping many people with their cars.
He was joined in marriage to Faye Hendrick on December 26, 1958. They were happily married until her passing in 2003.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Vance (Combs) Hendrick of Littleton, Colorado, who stood by his side throughout the years, providing love and support. Kenneth is also survived by his daughters Linda (Gregg) Parker and Lisa Hendrick, as well as Shirley's family, Nancy (Randy) Russell, Evonne Strohman and David (Chris) Clayton, whom he loved as his own.
He leaves behind cherished grandchildren Luke (Megan) Parker, Leah Parker, Wayne (Shelly) Strohman, Sherri (Scott) Miller, Aly (Andrew) Frazer, Leah (John) Keisler and Clay (Katie) Russell and many great-grandchildren – Noah, Ryder, Kaley, Sarah, Dylan, Devin, Quin, Remy, Cal, Owen, Holden and Grayson who brought him immense joy.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Hendrick, who passed away on February 9, 2003. He was also preceded in death by son Paul Hendrick, his parents Elvin and Mildred Hendrick, and his sisters, Roberta Cossar and Barbara Hendrick.
Kenneth will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his unwavering commitment to his faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, service to others and strength that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
While we mourn his passing, we rejoice that he is at rest with the Lord.
Visitation for Kenneth will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral Service Monday, June 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM both at Olinger Hampden Mortuary 8600 E. Hampden Ave., Denver, CO 80231. Graveside Service to follow at Olinger Eastlawn Cemetery (No procession) at 19600 E. Smith Road, Aurora, CO 80011. The United States Navy will be rendering honors for Kenneth at the cemetery during the graveside service.
