Katie Alyssa Edson is a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.
Katie was born in Manassas, VA, on October 31, 1984. She was always the most vibrant in the room. Forever needing something to stay occupied, she loved to dance, she was a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, and was Miss Pre-Teen Virginia. After graduating from James Madison University, Katie began a thriving and successful career first in the music industry, then following it with advertising. Starting with an internship with Red Light Management, music remained a lifelong passion for Katie. She was always the one to check the years’ layout of concerts and find the best to attend.
Along with music, Katie loved living in some of the largest US cities: DC, LA, SF, and Denver. Katie enjoyed cultural and sports activities. She was always in the know of the best restaurants, the best Ethiopian in DC, the best seafood in SF, and of course the best Italian everywhere, yes, including Olive Garden.
After her stint with the music industry, Katie joined multiple advertising companies working with clients across the globe. She loved and was enormously proud of her career achievements.
She passed on April 9, 2025 in Denver, CO, and is survived by her loving parents, Debra and Ronald Austen, brother Timothy Austen, partner James Torrey, and former husband Calvin Edson. She will be dearly missed.

Katie is everyone’s “cruise director” and is now leading us in a new direction.
