Julian Thomas Metsala was born on July 3, 1991, in Denver, Colorado, and passed away on December 17, 2024, in Parker, Colorado. He was the beloved husband of Ana Sofia Somellera and a devoted father to their son Julian and three bonus children, Tiffani, Marley, and Mateo. Julian was the cherished son of Alexandre and Scott Coffman, and the dear brother of Lauren Coffman, and Audrey and Hunter Weese. He was a doting uncle to his nieces Frankie, Blake, and Gwen, and left behind numerous aunts and cousins who were like second mothers and siblings to him. He was loved by his chosen family of Valentina and Preston Adair, Sebastian, Cameron and Veda.
Julian embraced fatherhood with a deep sense of responsibility and boundless love, bringing immense joy to his role as a father and uncle. He was an incredible role model to Tiffani, Marley, and Mateo, loving them as his own children. Julian was a devoted husband, father and son always prioritizing his family’s needs above his own and ensuring everyone around him was well taken care of. To him, family was everything, and he extended that love and care to his friends, treating each one as the most cherished person in his life.
Affectionately known as Julz, he was a shining light in the lives of all who knew him. Julz was always there for anyone in need, often before they even knew they needed him. His smile could brighten the darkest rooms, and he made friends wherever he went. Julz had a unique ability to make everyone feel included and valued, and his sense of humor could lift any spirits. If there ever was a person being excluded or bullied, Julz would be the first to step in and fiercely protect and include whomever was being mistreated. He was always the life of the party, bringing happiness to everyone around him
Julian had an impeccable sense of style, known for his carefully curated outfits from a young age. His selflessness was legendary; he would give the shirt off his back, even if it was his favorite one. Julian was a born athlete and avid sports fan; he created a lasting community around his high school football and baseball teams. There was an innate ability within him to excel at any sport he played and was fulfilled by spending his time being active. He was a die-hard Broncos fan, passionate about sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for football and basketball. His joy for sports was infectious, making everyone want to join in, regardless of their interest in the game.
Julian’s love for movies and music was a central part of his friendships. He often quoted his favorite films, singing Disney songs, or enjoying his favorite tunes. Driving with Julz was a memorable experience, filled with music and laughter. His diverse taste in music mirrored his endless love for those around him.
Though the loss of Julian deeply affects his community, his daily positivity serves as an inspiration. Julian had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone, a legacy we can all honor by spreading kindness and love. His heart of gold was a rare gift to the world, and while his time with us was far too short, we can continue his legacy by embodying the kindness and love he shared with each of us.
