MANASSAS – Judith “Judy” Matlock-Shannon, 53, passed away unexpectedly March 4, 2020, in her home. She was born April 29, 1966, the daughter of Martha Sue (Cureton) Spelts and Thomas Spelts Jr. Judy graduated from Mapleton High School class of 1984 and went on to serve proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1994. As a military wife and mother of three with her first husband Ricky Matlock, Judy attended Columbia College where she graduated with a BA in Business Administration. Judy made a life-long career of being a systems analyst as she took pride working alongside her military family. She was a dynamic and rare person.
When she wasn’t spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed the occasional rock concert or going on scenic drives in the mountains. Judy has left us sooner than we wanted, but she lived a life full of love and wonderful memories with her family and friends.
Judy is survived by her sons Caleb and Isaac Matlock, her daughters Aislinn Matlock, Stevie and Kellie Shannon. She is also remembered by her father, Thomas Spelts Jr., her siblings Jimmy Spelts, Rod Spelts, Rance Spelts, Angie Hockett, and additional family from the Cureton family and Huie family.
A funeral service will be held on July 7, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO. A graveside service will be held same day at 2:15pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery be laid to rest with her loving husband at the feet of the Rocky Mountains at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
