We are sad to announce the passing of Dr. Jennifer Rose Montague (Jen/Monty) in Commerce City, Colorado. Jennifer left this world at age the age of 37 on November 7, 2022.
Jennifer was born in Lubbock, Texas, on April 28, 1985, to Douglas and Charla Montague. She grew up in Penang, Malaysia, Lubbock, Texas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma with her parents, older sister Melody, her older brother Stephen and her younger brother Jeremy. Jennifer was a smart, strong little girl who always dreamed of being a doctor when she grew up. She was baptized in the ocean of Penang, Malaysia as a child. She attended Dalat International School, Victory Christian School and graduated from Broken Arrow High School (2003).
Jennifer graduated with honors from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2007 and medical school at Oklahoma University College of Medicine in 2011. She completed her residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado in 2015. Dr. Montague was board certified in internal medicine and addiction medicine. She worked at several Colorado hospitals and addiction treatment centers, changing many people’s lives. She was an educator about addiction medicine, speaking at conferences and events.
Dr. Montague was married to Michael Wilson Simms on September 13, 2018. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for her Saint Bernard, Daley. She loved travel, amusement parks, hiking, and playing board games with friends. She loved music and played the piano for her own enjoyment as well as in church as a teen. To her dearly loved nieces and nephews, she was the fun aunt - always creating adventures and memories to share together. She was a wonderful person who cared deeply for others, and she displayed this daily.
Dr. Montague was preceded in death by her grandfather Henry W. Pullen, grandfather William S. Montague, and grandmother Patricia Montague. She is survived by her husband Michael Simms, her parents Douglas and Charla Montague, her grandmother Charlotte Pullen, her sister Melody Selby, brother-in-law Justin Selby, brother Stephen Montague, sister-in-law Wakana Sugimoto, brother Jeremy Montague, nephews John Selby, Isaac Selby, Daniel Selby, and Joseph Selby, her nieces Miya Montague, Grace Selby, and Maya Montague, and her two dogs, Koa and Maxine.
The funeral will be held in Denver at Olinger Hampden Mortuary at 8600 E Hampden Ave. Denver, Colorado at noon on Monday 21, 2022. A memorial service will be held at Asbury Methodist Church at 6767 S. Mingo Rd, Tulsa, Ok on November 26, 2002 at 11am. She will take her final rest in Denver, Colorado at Olinger Cemetery. She will be dearly missed.
