James Arnold Hall was born on October 9, 1936 in Barnard, Missouri. He passed on November 21, 2024 at his residence at Hilltop Reserve Senior Living after a long battle with cancer. He did everything in his power to keep the cancer at bay but the most amazing thing is that he did it without complaint. Jim is predeceased by his parents Forrest Faye Hall and Ida Mildred Rasco and his brothers, Jon Forrest Hall and Joseph Audia Hall. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Sonya (Sunnie) Diane Hall and his four daughters and their husbands: Judith Coe (Brian Unger), Janelle (Rick) Crandell, Joni (Dave) Krickbaum and Joyce (Jock) Mirow. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Jared (Jody) Coe, Joshua (Lisa) Coe, Jessica Coe (Sam Hebenstreit), Caleb (Kaitlin) Crandell, Colton Crandell, Erik Krickbaum, Kyle Krickbaum and Jake Mirow. He has 7 great grandchildren with one on the way: McKenzie, Emerson, Juniper and Chandler Coe, Logan and Andrew Coe, Cooper and sister (due in May) Crandell.
Jim was born in Missouri, moved to Wyoming and eventually his parents settled in Denver. He met Sunnie at East High School and they married on July 2, 1954 and raised 4 daughters who also went to East High School. Jim worked a plethora of jobs and as many as 3 at a time in the early years but he ended up at Gates Rubber Company for 39 years and was Manager of the Print Shop. He came up from an hourly employee to a top management position. He worked just about all jobs at one point or another at Gates in both labor and management. During that time, he finished his GED and got a Bachelor’s Degree in Business while working and raising a family. After he retired from Gates, he spent 16 years at Enterprise Rent-A-Car delivering vehicles to customers in several states. Jim was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a Past Master of Union Lodge No. 7. He was a Shriner and a member of Daraja and Mountain Men. Jim loved hunting, fishing, all sports, boating, playing cards, vehicles of every type and he had a gorgeous baritone singing voice. He was also a poet and wrote many poems for Sunnie. Most of all Jim loved his wife and his family. They meant more to him than anything. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by his large family. Jim will be forever remembered as funny, tough AND soft, driven and remarkably intelligent. He will be forever missed.
A visitation for Jim will be held Monday, December 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, with a graveside service at 12:30 PM at Olinger Hampden Mortuary and Cemetery, 8600 E. Hampden Ave., Denver, CO 80231.
