James Michael "Mike" Fandal

James Michael Fandal was born May 11, 1954, in Houston, Texas, to Alma and Jim Fandal, and passed away October 18, 2014. Mike made Colorado his home where he filled his life with service, joy and love. His happiness was infectious and led to many friendships made through developmental disabilities organizations that served him after his move into the community from Ridge Home.

Whether blowing up and enjoying balloons with his nieces and appreciating a new tie, or popping the top on a beer to enjoy with Mom's neighbors or "the guys" in his host home family, Mike always had a smile on his face and enjoyed life with a rare, pure happiness. That life was enriched by his years of working with Goodwill Industries and involvement with Community Support Services. CSS staff was responsible for some wonderful vacations and much deserved fun for Michael, as well as overseeing all phases of his life.

Preceded in death by his father, James B. (Jim) Fandal, Jr., Michael is survived by his mother Alma Wade Fandal of Aurora; brother, Robert Jefferson (Jeff) Fandal of Medina, Ohio; sisters, Christine Elizabeth Fandal of Lakewood; Challais Fandal-Brewer of Littleton, as well as many nieces, and cousins. He will be missed by all, especially the extended family of his caring host home provider, Doris Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25th at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231.
