She is preceded in death by her parents, George Zee and Ednalea Lyle-McClary, her brother George McClary, and her first husband Robert M Ward.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Daryl M. Miller, his 3 children Jay, Mike and Chris, Helen’s 3 children Janet, Kenny and Bob, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, 7 step grandchildren and sisters Zeetha McClary-Fried and Carol Francis and husband Jay Wechselberger.
At age 3 Helen was a member of the Great Migration (The Grapes of Wrath) from Oklahoma to California with her parents, aunts and uncles. They spent some time in Arizona where her father worked in the fields and her Uncle Tom was a blacksmith. They then continued on to California where her father worked as a ranch hand and carpenter in San Ardo, CA. Helen went to elementary school in San Ardo, and then high school in King City, CA.
Helen married Robert M Ward when she was 17 and they lived in King City, CA where Janet was born. They later moved to Coalinga, CA where Kenny was born. Robert came to Denver to take a job working for the Safeway grocery chain. A short time later Helen loaded her two small children onto an airplane and flew into Denver to begin a new life in Colorado, where Robert II was born.
February 14th, 1970, Helen married Daryl Miller and they raised their 6 children (5 boys and 1 girl) together. In 1973 they moved to Arriba, CO where Daryl farmed and Helen worked at the grain elevator. They later moved to Limon, CO where Helen worked at Fireside Junction restaurant as a shift manager. In 1992 Helen and Daryl moved to Denver, CO to retire.
Helen was a very outgoing and social person and spent most of her working days in customer service related positions. She was strong and intelligent and liked to stay busy learning new things. Although she accomplished many things in life, her deepest joy came from the “love of her life” Daryl, and spending time with all the beautiful family they were “Divinely Blessed” with:)
We will miss her easy, heartfelt smiles, her warm wit, that way she had of looking at you that made you feel special and perfect in her beautiful blue eyes...but what a blessing to have had her for so long in our lives:)
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on October 24, 2015, from 10 AM to 2 PM at: Windsor Gardens Centerpoint, 597 South Clinton St., Denver, CO 80247.
Helen’s urn will be located in a garden at: Olinger Hampden Cemetery, 8600 E. Hampden Ave., Denver, CO
