Rev Harold L Brown Sr. was born to late William J. and Della Lee Brown on October 22, 1937 in Kansas City Missouri. He was one of four children born to this union. He attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School¬¬¬ (segregated school system due to Jim Crow laws). The school not only were students required to excel in their educational curriculum. Memorization of various bible scriptures for example Psalm 1 and 23rd were required and various after-school programs such as Junior Achievement which Harold was involved were offered. The family attended Highland Baptist Church where Miss Della keep Harold and his brothers active in church. Which included participating in Christmas and Easter events and other church functions throughout the year.
Miss Della moved Harold and the youngest brother from Kansas City Missouri to Denver in 1952. Harold attended Manual High School and later received a GED from the Denver Opportunity School. During this season, Harold married the love of his life, Thelma A. Nunley and began a family. Harold worked various job before being hired by Martin Company (currently Martin Marietta Inc.) in 1958. Opportunities available through Martin Company offered an avenue to education which allowed Harold to improve his quality of life for his growing family. Harold enrolled Metropolitan State College where he earned (1) Associate in Applied Science, emphasis on Electronic Engineering Technology and (2) Bachelor of Science, emphasis on Mathematics and Physics in 1971.
Harold worked as an Electronic Technician for several years prior to attending college and during college. He was hired by American Optical Medical Division of Boston, Massachusetts as a Sales Engineer and later promoted to District Manager for the Western United States.
In 1976, American Marketing Association (AMA) was birth out of the vision of Harold Brown. It served the rocky mountain medical community in the areas of Cardio Vascular Instrumentation and Respiratory Care. Harold provided training seminar for companies purchasing equipment sold by AMA. Equipment included pacer implants and invasive blood pressure. Also, Harold has won numerous awards; the company was the focus of many news articles focused on business.
While on family vacation to Kansas City, MO. in 1980. Harold was introduced to the Jesus Christ though his sister-in-law the late Betty Lou Brown. Who asked if he knew the Lord. Betty Lou explain to Harold how to receive the Lord. Harold asked Jesus to come into his heart and shortly after, and a hunger for the word of God began. He studied as the bible said, “study to show thyself approved unto God, a worker not be ashamed rightfully dividing the word of truth”. For he is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and will proclaim it where ever he may be.
Over the next thirty years, Harold began preaching and teaching, which touched many lives for Jesus Christ. First, in his previous church and then in various churches in the Denver area, basically wherever God opened a door. This was all to prepare him for a time such as this to be and to do what God has called him to do. Which is to teach and preach the gospel; the good news of Jesus Christ. During this season in May 2007, Thelma A. Brown was called home to be with the Lord.
Harold united with Living Hope Baptist Church, Aurora Colorado in January 2007. In September of 2008 Harold meet the second love of his life, Patricia A. Arnold in a Sunday school class. In January 2009 Harold was ordained as a Deacon of Living Hope Baptist Church and Harold and Patricia were united in marriage April 2009.
In January 2010, Harold continue to sense the Lord’s Call on his life, including to preach the Word and other things in ministry. Harold spoke with Pastor Holland regarding his calling. And after he was confirmed by the Elder Board of the church, he preached his trial sermon January 2011.
Preceded him in death: William J. Brown (father), Donald E. Brown (brother), Adolph Virgil Brown (brother), Thelma A. Brown (wife_51yrs), Della L. McCoy (mother) and Rosalind R. Dews(niece).
Harold is survived by wife Patricia Arnold Brown, brother Lee E. Brown Sr., sons Harold L. Brown Jr (Vikki), Michael A. Brown and daughters Pamela D. Hunter (Phillip) and LaSheree M. Huntley; grandchildren: Tiashia Brown-Camp (Julius), Harold L. Brown III (Sayera), Charles A. Pleasant, Felecia D. Cooper, Letisha Brown (PhD), Adriana Brown, Alexis Brown, Mercedes Brown, Lariah Brown, Faith Livingston (Kewuan), Malachi J. Huntley, Destiny J. Huntley, Layla M. Huntley and Kaydean J. Huntley. great grandchildren (19) and great great grandchildren (2) And a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
