It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Joseph Pelz, who left us peacefully on September 30, 2024, just days before his 71st birthday. Born to Delores and Mathew "Bus" Pelz, Gregory was a proud lifelong resident of his small hometown in Colorado, a place he never felt the need to leave. His hardworking, salt-of-the-earth spirit was a testament to his blue-collar roots, and his love for family remained constant throughout his life.
Gregory is survived by his loving siblings: his older brother Ed Pelz and younger sister Lisa Auston. He was a caring father to his three children: James Pelz, Shannon Pelz, and Kate Wilson, and a proud grandfather to Asher Pelz, Maggy (Jimmy) Correa, Destiny Woodis, and Neveah Pelz. Gregory's memory continues through his great-grandchildren, Belle and Reyna Correa.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ivorgene Pelz (who passed away 8 years ago on the 10th), the love of his life. The couple shared 43 years together, and they are now reunited just days before what would have been their 50th anniversary on October 5th.
Gregory's dedication to family, work, and his Denver Broncos—whose games he never missed since their founding in 1960 (as we were told to believe)—will be remembered by all who knew him.
A rosary will be held in Gregory's honor on Friday at 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of the Plains in Byers, Colorado. A procession to his final resting place will follow, with a dinner back at the church to celebrate his life.
