Gloria Jean Hodge

Gloria Jean Hodge, affectionately known as “Jeannie” or “Ms. Glo”, was born on February 9, 1958, in Denver, Colorado, to Buford and Lorene Madkins Hodge. She was the 6th of 8 children and the half-sister of 6 bonus siblings. She was a proud East High School Alumni. After high school, she went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Mass Media Communications and Minority Studies from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO. She furthered her education and obtained her Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver. After college, she had a successful career in the telecommunications industry. In 2019, she moved to New Orleans, LA, to be closer to her youngest daughter Sierra until she received her wings on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Jeannie grew up in the church and attended Wayside and Progressive Church of God in Christ where she participated in the Sunshine band, Y.P.W.W. (Young People Willing Workers) and the Progressive youth and adult choir. She enjoyed good music, concerts, movies, dancing and traveling. Jeannie was known for staying connected with those who had crossed her path. She would often call or send a text to simply check in. She was known to be the life of the party and she would always find a way to make you laugh.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Buford and Lorene Hodge, brother, Dennis E. Hodge, and sister Lola Faye Hurst, half-brothers J. Howard, Buford Hodge Jr., Ray and Roy Hodge, half-sisters Billie Hodge, LaFerne Griggs and grand-daughter baby Emonni Hodge.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Passion L. Hodge, of Denver, CO, and Sierra N. Blanchard - Hodge, of New Orleans, LA, grandchildren, Desire and Destiny Hodge, Lee Grant and Shawn Newson of Denver, CO, great-grandchildren, Terrell Smith, Koda Grant, Amaria Grant, Levi Grant, Shawn Newson, Amilliana Newson, Honor Newson, Kia Daddy Newson, and Avaya Newson, of Denver, CO, grand-puppies, Lambeaux and Ghost who she loved dearly. Siblings, Fredy D. Hodge, Bennie L. Hodge of Denver, CO, Elwanda Hodge-Levy of Aurora, CO, Renee D. Hodge - Alford and Autry L. Hodge of Denver, CO. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
