George will forever be a best friend.  Fred, George & I were the three amigos in pharmacy school @ CU. The 3 of us formed a great study group & George was our leader & mentor.  Fred & I quickly learned that our sum of iq was but a fraction of George's.  However, we did drag him to the golf course or the Sink more times than we should have been studying.  There are so many wonderful things I could say but the most important ones are he & Ginny were special.  George loved being a dad to Joe & Gina...he was so proud of them.  What I remember most was he attended my wedding coming all the way to San Diego.  Lord willing, I pray he will able cram the Kreb cycle into my brain a few more times. George and I share a first grade photo from Sterling, Colorado and we were classmates until graduation. In school, we often sat near each other so we could keep each other in check, or that's the way George would say it. In grade school, we were supposed to provide a valentine for each student in the class, but we were allowed to keep the "donor" secret. George was the only kid who anonymously typed his valentines, never guessing that it would be a dead giveaway. We each were newspaper boys for the local news source and suffered through the heat and bitter cold that life on the Colorado High Plains can bring. George and I were photographers for the high school yearbook which gave us opportunities for further high-jinks in the darkroom. George took a photograph of a UFO over SHS, inventing a crude photoshop and fooling no one, much to his surprise. We shared a locker for at least two years, the interior of which was memorialized for the yearbook in our last year. Our locker had more character than anyone else could even dream of. George was a one-of-a-kind person -- gentle by nature, but willing to stick his neck out when needed.  As has been said earlier, George was never able to spell "Spirit" the same way twice, unless it was wrong the first time. George will be sorely missed by many.

Ginny, Gina, Joe, we are so sad at the news of George's passing.  What a sweet, gentle man he was, and taught us so much about how he cared not only for people he served in his profession, but in the plants and trees that made up his property.  Honestly, we are glad to have had a see through fence since people thought your yard was ours.  May he rest in peace, and peace be with you.

I'll always remember George from our Sterling days as Co-Captain of the tennis team, yearbook photographer, catcher on the baseball team, outstanding scholar and good friend. His wry sense of humor matched his wry smile, but he couldn't spell "Spirit" twice the same way. His energy, humor, and commitment to excellence will be missed.

George and I had a lot of fun growing up together in Sterling.  He was a good friend and will be missed.

Dear Ginny and Family,  George welcomed me into the HSS Family as a Board Member in 2006.  His passion and enthusiasm for HSS was powerful. Please know that he leaves a wonderful legacy.  May warm memories help you find comfort during this time of sadness. Peace.

George was a great leader and mentor for all the years I worked with him at HSS.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family, he will be remembered fondly by all of us that he touched during his career.

George was a remarkable man, I enjoyed my 20 plus years working with him and knowing him.  It always amazed me, when we would have the employee recognition parties and bring our spouses, he always knew my husband's name where he worked and always talked about our children and what they were doing and their interests in life.
I loved going into his office to get manual checks signed, on Platte River Drive, and look at the pictures he had on his wall of his children over the years.  It was that heartwarming feeling of the awesome dad he must be.
My life has been truly blessed just for knowing George Schiel.

I am so sorry to hear about George's passing. I have such fond memories of George from our time together at Sterling High School as well as such great admiration of his success as we stayed in touch through college and after. George will continue to be an inspiration to everyone who experienced the quality person he was. Be joyful that he was part of your life as long as he was!

I had the privilege of working for George and when I reflect on him as the leader of HSS three words come to mind - energetic, passionate and integrity. I also remember his love of his family that he often spoke about proudly. On the lighter side he was the master of the 720 pancake flip each year at the HSS employee pancake breakfast.
