Dave was known for his sharp wit, dry sense of humor, and infectious personality that uplifted everyone around him.
Dave loved all things Diet Pepsi, his cat Mimi, OU football, donuts, a good ol’ fashioned cup of black coffee, Mexican food (the real stuff with hatch green chili sauce, not the Tex-Mex variety), too much Sweet'N Low in his iced tea, and horror films. He was a collector of coins, an avid video poker player and card shark, found relaxation in fly fishing, and enjoyed watching golf and losing at the game to his son Tim.
Dave worked for Denver International Airport for the majority of his career as a glazier, but he could fix more than just glass—if you had an issue, he was the person who could solve it. Leaky faucet? Call Dave Potter. Car engine troubles? Dave Potter to the rescue. Just don’t ask him about technology or how to get a virus off your computer.
He was kind, gentle, and selfless, the sort of man who would give you the shirt off his back and the keys to his apartment. But he could sure turn a phrase. Some of his highlights include, “Anyone who can throw shit in a river can do that,” “It’s darker than a coal miner’s ass outside,” and “People love me because of my slick and racy body.”
He is survived by his daughter Sara Potter, son Tim Potter, and daughter Rachel Potter Goodman, by his sisters Emily Firestine and Becky Jandera, and by his recently adopted cat Frankie.
