Dale was a locomotive engineer for the BNSF Railway until his retirement in 1994 and then for the Royal Gorge Route until 2002.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dale is survived by his children, Rondalyn (Steven) of Aurora, Colorado, Mark of Aurora, Colorado, Kevin (Donette) of Merced, California, and Shari (Brian) of Pueblo, Colorado; 10 grandchildren, Stacia, Timothy, Andrew (Ashley), Ryan (Patrick Call), Patrick, Christopher, Natalie, Sean, Laura and Morgan; and great-granddaughter, Avery. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Holly Ahern, Richard Haselton, and Dan Haselton and their families.
Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marilyn June Van Pelt; his parents, grandson, Jeffrey, and his sister and brother in law, Pauline and James Haselton.
Memorial Mass will be August 22, 2016 at 2pm at Christ the King Catholic Parish, 1708 Horseshoe Drive, Pueblo, Colorado. Dale and June will be laid to rest together in Carroll, Iowa where there life together began.
