Carol Joyce Martinson was born May 6, 1944, in Silverton, Oregon. She spent her early years on a small farm in Canby, Oregon surrounded by her parents and extended family. Carol attended Northwest Nazarene University where she met her future husband of 54 years, David K. Bon. In accepting his marriage proposal, she agreed to go with him anywhere in the world. They were married August 28, 1965.
True to her word, Carol and David became very well-traveled. Their travels covered all of the states and numerous foreign countries. As a military wife, Carol claimed that she had served in three foreign assignments: Germany, Japan and Georgia. Her favorite place was Japan; it was the fulfilment of a childhood dream. She particularly enjoyed interacting with the Japanese people in cultural events.
Carol died June 2, 2020, in Aurora, Colorado after a long battle with dementia and related complications.
Carol’s home was her castle. It was a place for nurturing and praying for her children and grandchildren. She was an expert in all aspects of her role as homemaker.
Carol will be remembered for her engaging, beautiful and loving smile. Even in her condition of dementia, her smile inspired others and engendered a response of love toward her. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Carol is survived by her husband David, two sons, Daniel Bon of Arvada, Colorado and David Bon of Owatonna, Minnesota, and their families as well as her brother Jack Martinson and his family. She had 5 grandchildren, all of them loved and spoiled dearly: Henry, Miles, Emily, Charlie and Jack.
She will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
