Brenda Corine Wright, 65, was called home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas. She had a kind and loving spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Born September 16, 1955 in Boonville, Missouri to the late Leon Wright and Gladys Wright (nee Jones), Brenda was the youngest of 3 siblings born to that union. Her sisters, Nellie Ann Ross and Joan McKinney preceded her in death.
Educated in the public schools of Boonville, she graduated from Bunceton High School, where she was a cheerleader.
After relocating to Denver, Colorado, she continued her educational pursuit, graduating from the University of Denver with a degree in Business Management. Brenda later married Michael Falls of Slater, Missouri. She was divorced at the time of her passing. She was blessed to be the devoted mother to two children: her son, Michael and her daughter, Kistina, who were the joy and inspiration of her life.
Always active as a faithful member of her church, Shorter AME in Denver, Brenda served as an usher and on various committees, tirelessly availing herself to community service as a willing worker for the Lord.
After her retirement from United Parcel Service where she was employed for 39 years, she relocated to Lubbock, Texas in 2017. While faithfully attending Alexander Chapel COGIC with her daughter, she continued her lifelong pattern of generously helping others, community service and exuding warmth and genuine concern for others in every conversation you had with her. She had an infectious giggle, a warm smile and an encouraging word for those who were privileged to know her.
She had a passion for cooking for others, and loved bowling, reading romance novels, shopping and traveling. Brenda kept a large map on a wall at home that showed the various countries and multiple states she visited in her travels. Sidelined by the restraints of the corona virus pandemic, she was unable to finish her full bucket list of travel destinations, especially Australia.
She is survived by her children, Michael Falls (Milan Clinkingbeard) of Denver, Colorado and Kistina McZeak (Andre McZeak) of Lubbock, Texas; 1 aunt, Willa Jones of Kansas City, Missouri; 4 nieces and their children- Deidre Ross-Pearson, Denise Ross, Toyika McKinney (great nieces Trinnity and Tre’viana Sloan), Tonya McKinney (great nieces Tyra and Tailyn Calloway) all from Aurora, Colorado; Tonette McKinney (great niece Ta’niya and great nephew A’vondre McKinney) from Boonville, Missouri; 1 nephew- Milton McKinney (great nephew Jace McKinney) from Boonville, Missouri; 4 first cousins-Marvin Jones, (Denver, CO), Linda Wofford (Atlanta, GA), Ann Rainey and Tracy Williams, (Kansas City, Missouri); 1 Godson, Dorion Washington, (Raleigh, NC); 3 God-Grandchildren-Deontae Wherry (Dallas, TX), Kaydence Nickerson (Austin, TX), Taylor Watson (Lubbock, TX); and a host of friends and sisters and brothers in Christ.
The family wishes to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude for all the many prayers, acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy shown to us during this time. God has blessed our lives abundantly with people like you and we shall forever give praise to Almighty God for you!
