On Friday, August 5, 2016, Booker T Graves (born Feb 2, 1938), noted local business man and political activist, went to join his mother, father, sister and brother in the next life. Booker Graves was a most beloved father, uncle and grandfather. He served the state as the Executive Director of the Colorado Workforce Development Council after decades of leadership in the hospitality industry. He was active in many civic endeavors including several years of service on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Restaurant Association where he was inducted to the 2012 Colorado Restaurant Association Hall of Fame. He was involved with Prostart a curriculum for high school teachers and students that prepares them for high wage careers in the hospitality field.
Booker was a member of the economic development commission and economic development council of Colorado (EDCC) for several years. He played a role in the revising of the Colorado department of education content standards. Booker was a member of the stakeholders group that revised the path for the comprehension testing regiment for all grades in Colorado CSAP.
