Barbara Ware

Born August 1936 in the Walton Park sub-district of County Borough of Liverpool, U.K.

Raised in Liverpool, with her brother Harry and sister Vivienne, Barbara was one of the child evacuees moved into the countryside of Wales during the war years. Barbara met future husband Tom Ware in Warrenton England in March 1955, when Tom was stationed at Burtonwood R.A.F station. They were married on the 1st of December, 1956. In October 1957 her first son Lawrence was born. In March of 1958 they moved from Liverpool to Ayr Scotland as Tom was transferred to the air base in Prestwick, Scotland. In May 1960, the second son, Michael was born in Scotland. Eventually The Ware family ended up in Aurora Colorado as Tom was stationed at Lowery A.F.B. Paul, her youngest son was born in January 1965 at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora. Barbara and family settled down in Aurora and made a home.

Barbara rejoined the work force once Paul was in school, and started at a small medical supplies firm called Whale Scientific where she eventually became the warehouse manager. After a number of years She moved on to a position in the mail room at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden. Barbara worked her way up and was the executive assistant to the Director of Security when she retired in 1996.

Along the way Barbara and Tom raised three sons, watching and supporting them through many motorcycle races, football games, girl crushes, and all the normal teenage boy things.

After Barbara and Tom retired they took to traveling extensively. Among the many trips they took together were Alaska, Caribbean, and Panama Canal transit cruises. They became Snowbirds for a number of years, wintering in places like California, Yuma Arizona, and Florida, often spending time with their children. Summers were spent on adventures like driving the trans-Canada highway into Alaska, Then as far north as the trans-Alaska highway would take them. Point Barrow Alaska was the destination that year, as far north as the gravel roads ran in their Truck and RV-Trailer. Barbara and Tom racked up the miles, often RV'ing 10,000 or more a year. They owned an RV spot on Blue Mesa and often spent weekends there during the summer.

Later they took to traveling by Train from coast to coast. They loved to travel in a private first class sleeper unit on the trains and enjoy the scenery passing by.

Barbara fought a long hard battle with cancer and multiple other medical issues before finally going to the Lord on March 28th. Barbara and Tom were married for 63 years.

Survived by husband Thomas, sister Vivienne, sons Lawrence, Michael, Paul, and granddaughter Taylor.
