I was at the ski area the other day for a wedding. I looked up at the steeps under Lift #1, and thought of Al right away. I smiled aand thought, "thank you for being my friend." We all miss you.

Alan - I've waited a long time to enter my tribute to you thinking that it might get easier with time, but it doesn't.  Your passing broke my heart, and I miss so much having a brother, knowing that you were there, but I am so glad that you were able to pursue the things that you loved to do with a passion and that you had a full life with many friends.  Knowing that makes losing you a little easier to bear, and I'm sure that we will be together again someday with the rest of the family.

Oh Al I wish we could have been able to help you through your struggle, but as others have said it was not your way.  I met you through your buddy Bob, and always enjoyed our bike rides together and sharing a cold beer afterwards.  You and Bob never tired of telling old stories about the old gang and the many outrageous adventures, I never tired of hearing about them.  I can see you and Bob now laughing on the deck as you reminisced.  You will be missed, love Maureen

Funny Story:  I cleaned house a few times for Alan while I was going to college, 80's.  This particular cleaning day I thought I would go the extra mile and do the whole bed washing thing.  At the time Alan had the most beautiful big-ol' Malamute.  Alan would tie him up during the day while he was at work. I guess to keep him from visiting the neighbors!!So anyway--I washed the linens and I thought I would hang-dry his big puffy comforter. I knew Mr. Malamute was tied up so no worry he wasn't close to the clothes line. Fast forward....I was cleaning a window when I caught some action out the side of my eye.  Mr. Malamute was having the time of his life playing pull the stuffing out of the "thing."  He had a pretty good game going on. I think my hair stood straight-up like Don King. I just remember being frozen with a big "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NO!"  Needless to say  when Alan got home he was a little surprised at my house cleaning job. We both just looked at each other...........had a beer and a good laugh.  He got a new comforter over the deal. 
I met Alan through sister Carol when we were "teeny-boppers."  I always thought Allan had this kinda shy, cute thing going on....girly crush.  We ended up being frinds and sharing some seriously fun times and a few good laughs along the way!  
I was deeply saddened hearing about his illness and passsing.  I have lost so many dear friends in the past ten years.....too many, too soon.  Allen will be missed by all who loved and cared.  Hopefully he is somewhere puffy with Mr.Malamute.

"Three Pin Al".  I met you in the early 80s at Loveland Ski Area.  I remember the look of shock on your face when I told you I "had never had a face shot"!  We skiied the rest of the afternoon.  You took me to the North Chutes/Our Bowl and tolerated my terrible skiing until I finally got a dusting of snow hitting my cheeks.  Thanks, Al.  I'll miss your smile........  R.I.P.

Very sad to hear of Al's passing.  He came into my life, as with many others, thru skiing at Loveland Ski Area.  Always riding chair 1, enjoying the thrill of the "steeps".  Very good memories and times.  You will be missed my friend.

The first time I met Al, I was hiking up one of the slopes at Loveland Ski area, circa 1985 or so, b/c I was too poor to pay for a lift ticket. He offered to pay my ticket. I declined. But he skied with me the rest of the day and flirted, too. That failed. But our long-lasting friendship was forged from that day forward. I've had many adventures with Al, both on the slopes, on the bike, windsurfing, and many, many concerts. Thanks for all the love and all the great attitude and adventures, Al. I wish you knew how special you were to me. Love, Annie.

Whoa...so sorry to hear the news, but to think about Al puts a smile on my face that goes from ear to ear. What a flood of excellent memories. We had some wonderful times skiing the steeps at Loveland and the powder (and sometimes crud) outside the area. I enjoyed almost 30 years of some pretty fine skiing with Al, and 30 years of riding up lift 1 together. He'd sit hunched over; we'd talk skiing, and he would drag his poles along the ramp as he got off the chair. He was one of the first to ski Research Dynamic tele skis (when they were still hand made). Funny the details. He will be missed, missed very much. RIP

I had a few great ski adventures with Al both at Loveland and on Mount Evans. He was always fun to ski with. I will miss him a lot.

Alan, I'll never forget you as you walked me to kindergarten as young kids growing up on the same street, but you knew this and we joked about it.  I'm so happy we remained friends until you passed on.  I was looking forward to seeing you at the pool party, and I'm so sorry we won't see each other at our next reunion.  You said you were looking forward to it.  You will be missed.  Smile on, Alan.  You will be missed.

So sorry to hear of the passing of "Big Al" and big he was!! A big passion for life and all he shared. I 1st meet Al on a chair ride at where else, Loveland Ski Area. I had just move from Aspen, Co with the same passion for Telemark skiing and riding. We shared many tele posse days with the gang and great rides together. Big Al, I will never forget you.

We shared many great days in the bumps and powder at Loveland Ski Area.  I will cherish those memories forever and feel very fortunate to have been his friend. My sympathy to the family of Al and prayers.   I had the pleasure of spending time with Al in the early 1990's through his friends.  He was a prince of a man and had such a spirit about him.  Never to be replicated.  May he be at peace now.

May Al always have eternal powder days...  I met him probably 20 yrs. ago at Loveland ski area and shared many a ski day with him also. Will miss that smile and twinkle in his eyes. We've lost a sweet soul.

I met Al at Loveland Basin around 1984.  I have so many great memories of skiing with him and his many friends.  He was always full of life and energetic and he had a great wry sense of humor.  I'm so sorry he's gone and many of us never got a chance to say goodbye, but it was like him not to tell anyone he was ailing.  I guess we will have to keep on making turns in his memory and meet up with him on a mountain in the next world.  RIP Al, you were one of a kind.  Your friends Linda Elinoff and Ken Feltz.
