Wanda June Elmore (Rogers) passed away Tuesday January 17, 2017, at Texoma Medical Center. She was 87 years old.
Wanda was born on December 23, 1929 in Deering, Kansas to Clarence Scott and Ola May Rogers (Harden). Wanda graduated from L.V.N. training in Fort Worth, Texas then went on to Grayson College, Sherman, Texas receiving a degree to become a Registered Nurse.
Wanda lived a full, productive, and passionate life. She was dedicated to God, her family, her church, and in her earlier years, her work. She was baptized as a child, and was a faithful member of Park Avenue Church of Christ, Denison, Texas where she loved ministering to others through service activities such as the food pantry and preparing meals for grieving families. Wanda was actively involved in her children’s many activities including softball and baseball teams, coaching bowling teams, and leading Scouts. For many years she worked as a stay at home mom and supported her husband’s military career. With all her children in school she went back to school to become a nurse, then worked for more than 20 years as a nurse at the old Texoma Medical Center where she particularly loved the years she spent working in the Emergency Room. She was an avid reader, quilter, painter, pet lover, and computer game player. She loved well and she was loved in return. She will be sorely missed.
Wanda is survived by her children: Yvonne Lacey of Denison, TX, Pam Jackson of Anderson, MO, Steve Elmore of Denison, TX, Jeff Elmore and wife Georgia, Dallas, TX; 9 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Great Great Grandchildren; Multiple nieces, nephews, other family members, and beloved friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Murray Elmore, Siblings Eva Marie Rogers and Darrel Rogers, and Parents Clarence and Ola Rogers.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 11:00am at Park Avenue Church of Christ, 3000 S. Park Avenue, Denison, Texas. Final resting place will be Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro, TX.
