The Lord called Scotty home December 19 at 1AM, surrounded by family, Denison Manor nurses and Home Hospice nurses.
Visitation for Scotty will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison, TX 75020.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Eddie Johnson, pastor of Grayson Bible Baptist Church, will conduct the service. Bro. Billy Young will provide music.
Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, TX 75090. Pallbearers will be Tracy Traweek, Mark Traweek, Travis Aday, Chris Boone, Phillip Gibby & Rowdy Neu. Honorary pallbearer will be Wiley Fritts.
As a teenager, Scotty did farm related work in hay and mowing. At age 17, he was stricken with a brain tumor that disabled him some. He worked for MHMR in Denison, then for Goodwill Industries in Sherman. He got on a Taps bus at 6AM weekly, never missed a chance to work. As his condition changed, he mowed lawns. He lived at Denison Manor several years. This fall he had two new tumors that were not able to be treated. His smile and laugh will be missed and remembered.
He is survived by his father and step-mother Billy & Pat Melton of Sherman; mother Sara Godsey of Denison; sisters Donna Belz & husband David of Whitesboro, Vickie Richardson of Denison; step-sister Linda Welch of Denison; brother Matt Melton of Madison, Wisconsin; step-brother Alvin Clay of Sherman; his extended family, including many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ben & Vera Melton, James & Olean Godsey & brother-in-law Dennis Richardson.
