Owen L. Hatfield

The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home for visitation from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 1, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 2, 2013, with Jim McDoniel and Rusty Sherry officiating.

Owen was born Thursday, January 3, 1924 in Denison, Texas, the son of Roy Edward Hatfield and Henrietta Biggerstaff Hatfield. He married Leta Brown in Sherman, Texas on July 28, 2000.

He started caddying when he was 12 years old; played golf and was three time champion of the Denison City Championship at the Rod & Gun Country Club; also had 7 holes in one; was a member of Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman; was in the U.S. Navy in WWII; worked for Civil Service at Perrin AFB in Denison and retired from Tinker AFB in Oklahoma in 1984.

He is survived by wife Leta of Sherman; stepsons Michael Springfield of Pflugerville, Texas & Max Springfield of Flower Mound, Texas; sister Emma Ruth Eads of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister-in-laws Marjorie Hatfield of Houston, Texas & Wilma Hatfield of Carrollton, Texas; several nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman, Texas
