Odis was born August 30, 1945 to J. C. and Lillian Vaughn Simmons in Bethany, LA.
He married Carolyn Hall August 5, 1966. He had two children, Lisa Simmons Melvin and Chris Simmons. Before his illness, he was an engineer with Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the Billie Mosse Masonic Lodge 1152, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, Hella Shriners of Dallas and was of Baptist Faith. He had a love for music and played the drums in the band Sidekicks for many years.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn and dog Bandit, his daughter Lisa Melvin and husband Wayne of Denison, son Chris Simmons and wife Michele of Denison, his grandchildren Ashley Smith and husband Caleb of Sherman, Cory Melvin of Euless, C. D. Simmons and Grace Simmons, both of Denison. He has two great grandchildren, Parker and Avery Smith of Sherman. He is also survived by a sister Joyce White and husband Ray of Whispering Pines, NC, brother Jerry Simmons and wife Sybil of Huntsville, AL and brother Ronnie Simmons and wife Sue of Newport News, VA along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Geraldine Alombro of Shreveport, LA.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Bratcher Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1:00 P.M., at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Smith officiating.
