The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home for visitation from 4:30 – 6:00 P.M., Monday, January 6, 2014.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating.
She was born on September 10, 1924 to William and Mildred Stephen in Dayton, Ohio. As a USO hostess in 1941, she met Allie Ray Fawcett of Denison, Texas and they were married on June 6, 1942. When he came back from overseas, Ilene moved to Denison in June 1944. They moved to Pottsboro in 1945 after his discharge from the service, and then moved back to Denison in 1947.
She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Parkside Baptist Church; moved back to Pottsboro in 1950 and joined Pottsboro First Baptist Church; was Sunday school secretary, WMU president, helped with GA’s; was active in PTA and served as den mother to Cub Scouts; moved to Denison in 1960; rejoined Parkside; worked at Perrin AFB until it closed in 1972; worked at Barrett Cut Rate Drug and retired in October 1995 at age 71. God then led her to Southside Baptist Church where she learned the Bible was truly taught and preached. There she found wonderful Christian fellowship and love.
Mrs. Fawcett was preceded in death in 1999 by her husband, Allie Ray Fawcett of 57 years; mother Mildred Langdon; father William Stephen and granddaughter Kelly Shytles.
She is survived by her daughter Debby Shytles of Denton; son Jerry Fawcett of Dallas; son Jimmy Fawcett and wife Fumiko of Plano; six granddaughters, Naomy Jones, Dionne Fawcett, Melissa Laurens and husband Eddie, Darcy Shytles, Emily Fawcett-White and husband Jason, Vivian Philhower and husband Justin; three grandsons, Ben, Derek and Trevor Fawcett; great-grandsons Austin and Jeremy Jones; great-granddaughter Evie Philhower; sister Marjorie Hardy of Ohio and nieces and nephews in Ohio.
