Harry was born December 10, 1910 in Woodville, Oklahoma, to Cuthbert and Lottie Steel. He married Grace Driggars in Sherman, Texas, on December 20, 1937. Harry and Grace moved to Denison from Parsons, Kansas in 1966, and he retired as a signal engineer from the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad in 1975 after a 33-year career. He was a member of First Christian Church of Denison and active in church, railroad, and community events throughout his life. He delivered Meals-on-Wheels we into his late 90s.
He was preceded in death by his wife Grace, who passed away in 2006, He is survived by daughter Virginia Milks of Denison; son Billy Steel of San Antonio; sister Thelma Widney of Durant; grandsons Bryan Milks and his wife Zandra of Sherman, Kevin Milks and his wife Peggy of Calera, Oklahoma, and Keith Milks and his wife Barbara of Denison. He had 11 Great-grandchildren; Shelbi, Mallory, Megan, Hillary, Max, Marissa, David, Colton, Madeline, Liam and Joe; four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Friday, March 21, 2014 at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison.
Funeral Services will be 1:00PM, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Cedarlawn Chapel on the hill in Sherman with Rev. Steve Chambers officiating with burial to follow.
