Family will receive friends at Batcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard, Denison, Texas, Tuesday, August, 7, 2012 from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. The Funeral will be Wednesday, August 8th at 10:00 A.M. at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Basil McClure. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Jones, Ryan Martin, Jimmy Russell, Greg Johnson, Pat Horton, Ray Wyskup, Steve Bryant and Roy Branch. Honorary pallbearers: Carl Raines, Floyd Smith, Wally Rasco and George Marrow.
Billy was born September 30, 1926 to A. G. and Ouida Yelverton Miller in Denison, Texas. He graduated Denison High School in 1943 and began his career with MKT Railroad in 1942 as a caller, working nights and attending school during the day. In 1944 he left for the U.S. Merchant Marine services in the South Pacific and traveling in various foreign countries. In latter 1946 he returned from the service to continue his railroad career as Chief Caller-Clerk.
In 1958 he was appointed assistant Trainmaster to Parsons, Kansas, returning to Denison, Texas and was appointed Trainmaster in 1960. In 1963 he was appointed coordinators service-equipment. In 1966 he was promoted Superintendent of Transportation. In 1988 he retired as managers of Sales and Service, completing 47 ½ years with MKT Railroad.
Billy was a member of the Elks Lodge, and Billie Mosse Lodge #1152, recognized for 50 years of service in July 1997. He was of the Baptist faith. He married Daisy Irene Mitchell, November 23 1951 in Denison, Texas. They have two sons Michael and Terry Miller.
He is survived by his wife Daisy; sons Michael and wife Susi of Lufkin, Terry and wife Debra of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Kerry and husband Brandon Jones of Lufkin, Michael Sterling of New York, Amy and husband Ryan Martin of Baytown.
He is preceded in death by his parents A.G. Miller and Ouida miller, sister Mary Land and nephew Donald Land.
