We are saddened by the passing of Myron (Mike) Shapiro, of Boynton Beach, FL, on December 14, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Michele Shapiro, children Debbie Shapiro, Joel (Marcie) Shapiro, Harold Shapiro (special friend Sherry Smith), and grandchildren Jonathan, Julie, and Alex Shapiro. Mike was born on September 9, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY as the son of Harry and Jean Shapiro, and older brother of Alvin Shapiro. He attended Samuel J. Tilden High School, Brooklyn College, and West Virginia University, where he obtained a master's degree in chemistry and began his career in Erie, PA as an industrial chemist. Mike met the love of his life, Mich, when they were both 21 years old. Mike and Mich eventually raised their family in Rockaway, NJ, where they lived for 33 years and enjoyed being a part of the White Meadow Temple community. Mike worked for Synthetic Surfaces, Inc., and was most proud of participating in helping to formulate the adhesive for the original Giants Stadium artificial turf. Mike and Mich then pursued their dream of retiring to sunny Boynton Beach, FL, where they lived for 21 years as active members of the Ponte Vecchio West community until his passing. Mike particularly enjoyed playing poker with his friends, watching the New York Giants, and visiting with his children and grandchildren. We are particularly grateful to Mike's aides, Sergina and Monique, and the staff of Vitas Home Hospice Healthcare, for their compassionate care of Mike in his final days.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Riverside-Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 7205 W Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, FL, 33446.
Charitable donations may be made in memory of Myron Shapiro to either White Meadow Temple/Congregation Or Hadash, 153 White Meadow Road, Rockaway, NJ, 07866, or to a charity of one's choosing.
