Lester Gustin, 90, of Boca Raton passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 from complications resulting from a head injury. He was a joyous and kind man who will be missed by his family, friends and the community.
Lester was raised in Brooklyn, NY and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he received a purple heart from wounds he received in WWII. He maintained ties to a local VA group. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Piano Technicians Guild. He brought music and joy into this world and had an uncanny, if not corny, sense of humor which accompanied his wry smile.
Beloved Lester is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elaine (Weisberg) Gustin, his three adoring daughters Ginny (Lawrence) Kobren of Boca Raton, Elyse Gustin Fishkin of Wellesley, MA and Cathy (Anthony) Ferro of Palm Beach Gardens, five loving grandchildren Matthew (Ari) Kobren, Bradley and Carly Fishkin, and Emily and Jessica Ferro and two great grandchildren, Elle and Graham Kobren, who lit up his life.
Lester was the son of Philip and Ida (Tapper) Gustin, twin brother of Milton and brother of Eleanor (Gustin) Bashkoff and Beverly (Gustin) Wald.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverside-Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 7205 W. Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, (561) 496-7550 on July 24th at noon followed by an interment at the South Florida National Cemetery. Contributions in Lester Gustin’s memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV.org) or Trustbridge Health of West Palm Beach (trustbridge.com).
