Donald A. Wexler of Boca Raton, formerly of Levittown, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of Ethel and Jack Wexler.
Don was a talented baseball player in his youth who was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers but had to decline the opportunity in order to help support his family. Don was a loyal fan of the New York Mets. After graduating from New York City Community College Don served his country proudly in the Military.
As a member of Local 802 Don managed a bread delivery route for many years and was considered a friend by many of his customers. Most recently, he managed a Liquor store for Walgreens celebrating over 24 years of employment with the company. Don treated his co-workers and customers with respect and very much valued their respect and friendship.
Don and his lovely Bride Janet enjoyed many wonderful vacations together. They traveled the world, from summers in the Catskills, to visiting their granddaughter in Prague. Don and Jan knew how to have FUN and to cut a RUG!!
Nothing was more important to Don than to be able to care for his family. They meant the world to him and likewise he meant the world to them.
Don is survived by Janet, the love of his life and wife of 59 years. He is also survived by his 3 children Scott Wexler(Mary Alice), David Wexler(Regina) and Fran Miller(Steven), and his 6 grandchildren Robert Wexler, Andrew Wexler, Kristen Wexler, Samantha Miller, Melissa Wexler and Jessica Wexler and several nieces and nephews whom Don loved and cared greatly about.
In addition to his parents Don was predeceased by his sister Sandi Friedman.
A service will be held on Sunday, March 11th @ 12:30 at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Mount Vernon, NY with the burial immediately at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 25th @ 2:00 pm. at Congregation Beit Kulam in Delray Beach, Florida.
