Tim was a graduate of Delcambre High School where his love for sports showed as he excelled in basketball and track. He went on to pursue his studies at USL to become a petroleum engineer and later returned to obtain a second degree in Mechanical Engineering. Tim traveled several places thru his career in the oil and gas industry and got to see a lot of this world. In one of those trips he went to Brazil and met Cristina Xavier, the love of his life, to whom he got married after a couple years.
Tim exemplified a profound love for sports as he was an avid golfer and watched endless hours of sports competitions, especially when LSU or the Saints were playing. He loved reading and anticipated his monthly arrival from his book subscription.
It’s no secret that Tim being born and raised in Delcambre enjoyed good food, specifically cajun and some good Brazilian barbecue. He was also a great cook and put love into every dish. Between all of his specialties (gumbo, fricasé, potato salad, rice dressing etc) his most famous and delicious recipe was spaghetti sauce, however like he would always say, “Please no onions”.
Traveling was always an enjoyable time for Tim. He always put on his favorite country singer Johnny Cash. His daughters share with a laugh that while driving if he would say “I know a shortcut” that meant we were going to be late, because we would always get lost of those shortcuts.
He cherished his family and his kind hearted spirit shined through as he loved his family unconditionally. He relished entertaining his family and friends (sharing how proud he was for his famous Alligator dance at wedding parties) with endless stories and jokes while spreading laughter and warmth wherever he went. Because of his easy going personality he was able to talk to anyone. He never met a stranger.
Above all, Tim was most proud of being called “Paw-Paw”. He absolutely loved and adored his grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them. He will be missed dearly by family and friends alike.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Myrna Xavier Carrera (Miguel), Lilian Maciel-Campbell (Bryan), Bianca Cagle (Kevan); his grandchildren, Michael Carrera and Milena Carrera; and his brothers and sisters, Daniel Dore’, Phyllis Dore’ Corner (Ronald), Derrell Dore’ (Dot), Terry Dore’ (Christine) who was surviving Tim until his passing of February 4, and Sybil Dore’ Dronet (Travis).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cristina Xavier; his parents, LeRoy and Lelia Dore’; and brother, Lynn Dore’.
