DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Andrew Broussard, the former Rena LeBlanc, 94, at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow at the church mausoleum.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday in Delcambre from 10:00 am until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.
A native and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Broussard passed away at 10:35 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Cornerstone Village South Assisted Living in Lafayette.
Born on April 7, 1923 to the late Nedier Sr. and Elia LeBlanc, Rena was one of six children. She was a devoted catholic and faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for many years. Rena lived and shared her faith by teaching religion classes, singing in the church choir, and serving on the ladies altar society. She had a great love of cooking and baking and always made sure that everyone in the family was fed. She also had a passion for sewing, planting flowers, and taking pictures of the family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Rena will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Andrew Broussard; children, Christine B. Dore and husband Terry of Delcambre, Edward L. Broussard and wife Mary Beth of Lafayette, and Andrea B. Falgout and husband Randall of Delcambre; sister-in-law, Madge LeBlanc; grandchildren, Stephanie Fremin, Tiffani Broussard, Claire Danos, Alicia Broussard, Emily Williams, Chace Falgout, and Neely Falgout; and great grandchildren, Emma, Aiden, Olivia, Anne Marie, Caroline, Mateo, Liam, Ava, Abigail, and Layne.
She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Marie Broussard; great grandson, Boden Mateo Falgout; parents, Nedier Sr and Elia LeBlanc; and siblings, Raoul LeBlanc, Richard LeBlanc, Nedier LeBlanc Jr., Elaine Rodrigue, and Gladys Moss.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston, Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70503 in Mrs. Broussard’s memory.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs at Hospice of Acadiana, Cornerstone South Assisted Living, and personal caretakers, Carolyn, Carrie, and Rachel for their care and support during these times.
