Robert retired from being employed as a middle school teacher at McFarland Middle School. He worked as a school teacher for over 32 years in McFarland, Richgrove, and Delano. He as well served in the U.S. Navy and toured overseas in the Philippines and Vietnam.
Robert is survived by: Janet Trinanes Mata (Wife), Cheyenne Marie Shumawish Mata (Daughter), Tiffani Ann Mistoyo Mata (Daughter), and Steven James Mata (Brother).
Robert is preceded in death by: Winsloe “Windy” Sistos Mata (Father), Mary Louise Mata (Mother), and Patricia Louise Wisheropp (Sister).
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Delano, 707 Browning Rd., Delano, CA 93215. A rosary will occur Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 4:00 PM, 707 Browning Rd., Delano, CA 93215. A mass of christian burial will occur Friday, September 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1015 Clinton St., Delano, CA 93215. A committal service will occur Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at North Kern District Cemetery, 627 Austin St., Delano, CA 93215.
Serving as pallbearers are Fernando Fernandez, Sunraj Singh Rai, Frank Herrera III, Dominic Christopher Mata, Raul Zamora, Sean Mata Morris, Aaron Moses Mata, Javier Albay, Steven James Mata, Bryant Wisheropp, Tony Joseph Rizos and Frank Herrera Jr.
