Raudel Medina-Gonzalez was born on September 3, 1933 to Ricardo Medina and Maria de Jesus Gonzalez in Arellano, Zac,Mex. At the young age of 12, he lost his father in a tragic accident. His father‘s responsibilities became his. It was at that tender age that he developed his work ethic, which carried on until he retired.
On October 20, 1956 he married Obdulia Medina-Lara. They had nine children together; Ricardo (Rogelia), Raudel+, Mario (Gabriela), Obdulia (Antonio), Patricia, Sandra (Robert), Martin (Janie), Claudia (Steve), and Maria (Kirk). They were happily married for 33 years until Obdulia’s passing in 1989.
On February 2, 1991 he married Ana Maria Valenzuela. They had one daughter together, Rita. They were happily married for 33 years until he passed away on March 22, 2024.
Raudel immigrated to the United States, where he worked primarily in agriculture. In 1976 he planted his roots in McFarland California, where he finished raising his children and passed away in the home they built together.
Raudel was a very faithful man. He was involved with his church and developed friendships with the priests of his parish. He loved walking after his retirement. He had many friends he would talk to along his route. He enjoyed playing a good game of conquian, loved music, and doing word search puzzles.
Although there were many tragic and difficult events in his life, Raudel always held strong to his faith, and did not allow these tragedies to make him bitter. He was a loving man to the very end.
Raudel passed away on March 22, 2024 peacefully and surrounded by his family- wife Ana, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also got to say goodbye to some of his beloved sobrinos before passing. It is of no surprise that one of his last words was Amen as he prayed along with his family.
Mr. Medina also leaves 29 Grandchildren and 41 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo, his first wife, Obdulia, his son, Raudel, and his mother, Maria De Jesus – in that order.
We would like to acknowledge his granddaughters, Claudia and Patricia, and great granddaughter Liliy for helping us take care of him in his final days.
Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Medina, Victor Zermeno, Jorge Medina, Jake Medina, Cesar Medina, Evan Sanchez, Miles Rodriquez and Drew Campos.
