Octavio (Tavo) Murrieta Armendariz passed away March 12, 2014 surrounded by his devoted family. He was born in Brawley, California on December 17, 1929 and was one of nine children. He lived a life of strength, determination and was always ready to lend a helping hand to others in need. He instilled a tremendous work ethic into the lives of his beloved children and grandchildren. He set an example for all to follow. For many years he owned and operated the Armendariz Liquor’s and Keg Liquor Stores in Delano. His pride and joy was being able to know and love his 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Octavio (Tavo) is survived by the love of his life his wife Alice B. Armendariz, his sister Gloria A. Vasquez of Los Angeles and brothers Guadalupe (Lupe) of Baja California and Enrique (Henry) Armendariz of Los Angeles. He leaves behind his children, son Art (Bonnie) Armendariz of Delano, daughter Irma (Steve) Armendarez of Bakersfield; daughter Rita (Richard) Gonzalez of Delano; son Octavio David (Elvia) Armendariz of Bakersfield; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Mercedes Armendariz; his brothers Gerardo (Jerry), Miguel (Mike), Francisco (Frank), Manuel and Jesus (Jess) Armendariz and his son-in-law Steve Armendarez.
There will be a visitation held at Delano Mortuary; 707 Browning Rd., Delano, CA 93215 on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 7:30 am - 9:30 am followed by a 10 am Rosary and Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 1015 Clinton St., Delano, CA 93215.
Pallbearers are: Henry Mendoza, Chris Armendariz, Matthew Armendariz, Ben Armendariz,; A.J. Gonzalez, Michael Armendariz, Richard Gonzalez, and Ryan Gardea. Honorary Pallbearers are: Vicki Perez, Monica Ward, Veronica Hanna, Sarah DelRio, Lisa Armendarez, Rebecca Gonzalez, Allison Recio, and Laura Gonzalez.
The Armendariz family would like to give special thanks to Octavio’s care givers Claudia, Brenda and Maria. They were so helpful in his last days. We would also like to thank the staff at Hoffman Hospice of Bakersfield and the staff at the Delano Skilled Facility for their kindness and dedication to our Dad and his family.
