April 19, 2024. Her final breath of life was soft and gentle, comparing it to a light purple aura
which is representative of spiritual authority.
Marlene was born on February 26, 1961 to Moddie and Manuel Goree, Sr. in Delano, CA. She
was one of five children: Brothers Manuel Goree Jr., twin brother Marvin Goree, and Eliseo
Carrillo and sister Karen Goree.
Marlene is survived by her four children; Dennis ‘DJ’ Jimenez, Jr, Kalina Gildersleeve, Ashley
Robinson, and Monica Goree, seven grandchildren; Jordynn Jimenez, Derek Jimenez, Kimora
Randle, Drake Jimenez, Erskin Gildersleeve, Kali Gildersleeve, and Saint Gildersleeve, and one
great grandchild; Alijah Jimenez-Sterling. Marlene always spoke of her grandbabies, kept up
with their newspaper clippings, and admired the several photos shared with her throughout their
young years. She was always proud and boasted about her beautiful grandchildren.
Marlene attended Delano High School where she was a Tigerette. She was best known for her
heart of gold, gracious generosity, and kind spirit. Marlene loved to take and be in photos,
especially when she would wear her eyelashes and hazel eyes.
Marlene exhibited tremendous strength during her last month of life. Her bible, belief, and faith
were always with her no matter where she was. This could be attributed to her many family and
friends that visited her. She felt love and support and when she could, she would express how
happy she was. She loved everyone and wanted everyone to be happy even when she was in
so much pain.
Her departure, although hurtful, leaves her children with a stronger commitment to each other.
Today, they want to celebrate their mother who is now free from pain and in her words “life is
good.” Her beautiful face and smile will be cherished forever. The family deeply appreciates
your support during this time and asks to keep the family lifted in prayer.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor 3:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel Delano located at 707 Browning Rd., Delano, CA 93215.
Services entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel Delano, a Dignity Memorial provider.
