John was born January 31, 1938 to George and Onetta Hennessee in Cyril, Oklahoma. The family first moved to Delano, California in 1946, when John was eight years old. In June 1950 the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Then a short time later in January 1951, the family moved back to Delano, California., where he resided until his passing. John is the second born of seven children.
John worked at a gas station owed by his oldest brother Alvin, until he was drafted into the army. After being honorarily discharged from the army, John was introduced to the love of his life, Norma Jean Haskins by Norma's favorite aunt. The two were married in October 1963. To this Union the couple were blessed with three daughters, Sondra, Kim, and Jennifer.
John was a skilled mechanic, welder and a hard worker. He wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty, hence his nick name "RUSTY". He loved watching all sports especially football and basketball. After John retired in 2003, he and his wife Norma, liked to do various DIY Projects around the house. They both enjoyed traveling in their RV to visit family and friends. They also enjoyed going to the casino.
John is survived by his three daughters, Sondra and Husband Samuel Fackler, Kim Blaylock and Jennifer Hennessee. Grandchildren, Denise Cristobal, Michael Sumrall and family. Jenette Gallardo and Fiance Mariano Salado, and Tiffany Blaylock.Great Grandchildren, Jaiden Cristobal, Trelain Weems II, Kari Hernandez, Bryan Ramirez, And Laoh Salado. Sons from a previous marriage George and Terry Hennessee and families. Brothers, Alvin and wife Shirley Hennessee, Larry and wife Dorothy Hennessee, Sisters, Barbara Payer, Georgia Hightower, and Patsy Lane. Along with a host of nieces and nephews and their families. Friends and Very Dear and beloved Land family., That will miss him dearly.
John was preceded in death by his Wife Norma Jean Haskins Hennessee. Parents George and Onetta Hennessee sister Annie Mae Bogges, sons from a previous marriage Charles and John Hennessee Jr.
A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Delano, 707 Browning Road, Delano, CA 93215. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, 707 Browning Road, Delano, CA 93215. A committal service will occur Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at North Kern District Cemetery, 627 Austin St., Delano, CA 93215.
