Chona Delgado Lovato was born in San Gabriel, CA. on August 29, 1916 to Julio Delgado and Apolonia Granada Delgado and ultimately passed in her home in Delano, CA. on Friday April 26, 2019 at the age of 102.
Chona is survived by her children; Rosenda & Juan Medina, Phyllis & Felix Ortiz, Gloria & Mark Reyna, Rita Cowell, Peggy Cowell, and Morris & Belen Lovato; her sister Jean Gadberry and Sammie Delgado; her brother Julio Delgado, as well as 35 grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren, and 74 great great grand children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Alex and Philip Delgado, her sister Cipriana Delgado, her daughter Delfina Delgado, her son-in-law Edward Delgado, and her grandsons Edward Delgado Jr. and Robert Reyna.
A visitation for Chona will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Delano Mortuary, 707 Browning Road, Delano, CA 93215. Mass will occur Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary's of the Miraculous Medal Parish, 916 Lexington St., Delano, CA 93215. Immediately followed by the committal service at North Kern Cemetery District, 627 Austin St., Delano, CA 93215.
Serving as pallbearers are Danny Garcia, Richard Herreria, Ruben Ortiz, Morris Lovato III, Carlos Reyna, Frankie Hernandez, Raymond Delgado and Lionel Reyna.
